Personal Statement

Many people carry experiences of trauma, grief, loss, and intense stress that quietly shape how they see themselves, their relationships, and the world around them. I specialize in trauma-informed counseling and have a particular passion for working with military members, veterans, and first responders who are navigating the emotional and relational impact of service and high-pressure environments. Having served for ten years myself, I understand many of the unique challenges that accompany lives devoted to protecting and serving others. It is an honor for me to walk alongside individuals who carry these experiences as they process their story, rebuild stability, and rediscover meaning and direction.

I believe every person is created with inherent dignity and a deep desire for connection, purpose, and restoration. My goal as a counselor is to provide a space where you feel genuinely seen, heard, and respected so that we can thoughtfully explore your experiences together. Many of the struggles people face begin to make sense when they are viewed within the context of the life events and relationships that shaped them. Counseling offers an opportunity to slow down, understand those experiences more fully, and begin moving toward healing and renewed clarity.

As a Christian counselor, I integrate sound clinical practice with a thoughtful understanding of faith, meaning, and the human person. I approach counseling holistically and consider the emotional, relational, and spiritual dimensions of life. For those who desire it, faith and spiritual reflection can be meaningfully incorporated into the counseling process. At the same time, I welcome and respect individuals from all backgrounds and belief systems. My aim is to meet you where you are and support you in pursuing growth that aligns with your values and goals.

Outside of counseling, I value time with my family, meaningful conversation, continued learning, and spending time outdoors. I remain committed to ongoing professional development so that I can provide careful, research-informed care to the people I serve.

Approach to Therapy

In session, my primary goal is to understand what it has been like to live your life. I approach therapy with curiosity, respect, and careful attention to the experiences that have shaped how you see yourself, others, and the world around you. Many emotional struggles begin to make sense when they are understood within the context of a person’s story. Exploring those experiences often helps reduce shame and opens the door to new ways of thinking, relating, and responding.

My counseling approach integrates psychodynamic, existential, and attachment-based perspectives. These frameworks help us understand how early relationships, significant life experiences, and internal beliefs influence how we experience ourselves and others today. Attachment patterns often shape the way individuals relate to intimacy, trust, and emotional safety. Through therapy, we work together to recognize these patterns and develop healthier ways of relating both to yourself and to the people in your life.

For individuals serving in military or first responder roles, the ability to perform under pressure and suppress emotional responses is often necessary for the mission. Over time, however, these same survival strategies can create distance from one’s emotions, relationships, or sense of meaning. Therapy provides a place to process those experiences safely and at a pace that feels manageable while building new ways of responding to past trauma, present challenges, and future goals.

My aim is not only to help reduce distress but also to support deeper self-understanding, resilience, and meaningful change. I remain committed to ongoing learning, consultation, and professional development so that I can continue offering thoughtful and evidence-informed care.
