Bringing someone into contact with the rare elements of grace, beauty, spirit, and freedom

Equestrian Therapy

Equine therapy, also known as Equine-Assisted Therapy (EAT), is a therapy that includes equine activities to promote physical, occupational, and emotional growth. This form of therapy is used by our specialized therapists to assist those struggling with ADD, Anxiety, Autism, Cerebral Palsy, Dementia, Depression, Developmental Delay, Genetic Syndromes, traumatic brain injuries, behavioral issues, abuse issues, and many other mental health problems. Here at Pneuma Counseling, we are committed to providing effective trauma therapy & counseling in Colorado Springs therapy to those who are hurting, going through a challenging situation, experiencing difficult emotions, or seeking to change their life for the better.

Equestrian therapy leads the way in effective treatment

Equestrian counseling has proven to be beneficial to a wide range of people suffering from conditions for which traditional therapies fall short. Often equine therapy is used in conjunction with other therapies. Because it takes place outdoors and centers on a pet, Equine Assisted Psychotherapy (EAP) seems less threatening or daunting.

Horses are especially suited for therapy for several reasons:

  • Horses have calm personalities and relay non-judgment.
  • Horses exude a sense of peace.
  • Horses often mirror behavior and emotions, conveying a sense of understanding.
  • Horses require work and the process of caring for a horse can be therapeutic.
