Personal Statement
Counseling can be helpful when you feel stuck where you are and wish to improve your quality of life.  I approach counseling as an opportunity for accelerating the growth required for that type of change.  This begins with feeling understood and listened to. From there, we can build on your strengths to work towards your goals.  I use techniques from a variety of therapeutic styles to best address my clients’ unique situations to ultimately which can help them get “unstuck.”

I offer individual counseling to adults who wish to tackle the struggles in their life.  This includes struggles with trauma, depression, anxiety, stress and life transitions, low self-esteem, suppression of self, dealing with chronic illness, pornography addiction, and relationship/peer difficulties.  As a Christian, I know how integral one’s beliefs can be.  If you come from a faith tradition, we can discuss how best to integrate your beliefs in the counseling experience.  For those who struggle with chronic illness, please know that I am familiar with the unique challenges that such illness can create.

In my free time, I can be found enjoying time with friends or family, taking walks, reading, or watching quality anime.

Approach to Therapy

I hold that each person is uniquely suited to be the expert of themselves. As such, you can expect me to respect you and truly work with you in collaboration. It is an honor to be part of that collaborative journey. My goal as a therapist is to support your growth until you no longer need or desire that support.

Some people hesitate to go to therapy because of the shame they feel regarding their struggle. Perhaps they think their issue is too severe, too taboo, or simply too illogical. My experience with counseling has taught me that everything you feel and experience ultimately makes sense even if it is maladaptive; uncovering the “why” naturally brings insight and opportunity for growth and, ultimately, change to a better way of being.
